Take Control Of Your Eyes
Your eyes are the first thing most people will see when they meet you. If the skin around your eyes is sagging, drooping or loose, you may not feel that you look your best. You may not feel that you’re making that perfect first impression. And you may be thinking about how you look far more than you should. A blepharoplasty can help you take control of drooping or sagging upper eyelids. It can also help you take control of how your lower eyelid looks, to improve the overall contour of your face. After a blepharoplasty, your skin will stretch tightly from your eyelids down to your cheek, giving you youthful contours. Your upper eyelids will be pulled back to reveal the true beauty of your eyes. These procedures can even change the shape of your eye all together, to give you complete control over your new look, and the first impression you make. With your new face will come new confidence. You will have a whole new way to tackle the world. The only thing people will notice about you is that you’re completely comfortable in your own skin.
How Long Is The Recovery Time?
Everyone is different, and it’s impossible to predict exactly how much time you would need to recover. On average, you should expect to have some bruising and swelling for 7-10 days after your blepharoplasty. If you have to go into an office, many people choose to go in for surgery on a Friday and take the next week off work, to allow for 10 days of recovery.
Can Insurance Cover An Eyelid Lift?
If your vision is impaired by drooping upper eyelids, an upper eyelid lift may be covered by your insurance provider. Every insurance company is different, so check if your provider provides coverage. Often, your health insurance company will need some kind of proof that your vision is impaired. If necessary, Dr. Cohen will perform the tests and send the required proof to your provider if you are eligible.
How Is A Blepharoplasty Performed?
The term blepharoplasty is a broad term used to describe any surgery that tightens the upper eyelid or lower eyelid. If your eyelids are drooping down into your eyes, then you would need an upper blepharoplasty. If your lower eyelids are sagging down into your cheeks, you can tighten them with a lower blepharoplasty. If you need help with both of these areas, they can be performed together. In an upper blepharoplasty, excess skin and fat are removed through an incision hidden in the natural crease of your eyelid. The incision is then closed with fine sutures. This results in an improved, refreshed appearance and the creation of a prominent eyelid crease, giving the patient a more youthful look. In a lower blepharoplasty, the incisions are hidden on the inside of the eyelid. If there is excess skin of the lower lid, the incision is made just below the lashes. These techniques allow Dr. Cohen to remove excess skin or fat and re-position skin without leaving visible scars on your face. Your end result is a smooth, beautiful, youthful facial contour.
What's The Difference Between An Upper Blepharoplasty And A Lower Blepharoplasty?
The upper blepharoplasty aims to fix eyelids that are drooping down into the eyes. Lower blepharoplasty tightens the skin in the lower eyelid, where the eyelid meets the cheek. You need an upper blepharoplasty if your eyelids are drooping into your eyes. A lower eyelid lift is ideal if you want to improve your facial contours below the eye. These procedures can be performed together, if you are looking to change the shape and appearance of your eyes. Dr. Cohen can advise you on the best combination of procedures on a free consultation in his Chicago or Glenview office.

I went to the consultation with the idea of surgically removing the “bags” under my eyes and Dr. Cohen recommended this less invasive and more affordable solution (unlike other doctors I spoke with, they were ready and willing to do surgery with no mention of another options…until I asked!). Dr. Cohen and his staff were great and I would recommend him to anyone!Trisha9329

I felt that I needed a bit of work to stave off the aging process. My visit with Dr Cohen was wonderful, he was professional and caring at the same time as he explained he did not want to over-enhance but accentuate my natural looks. I would rate both himself and his practice very highly.skygirl1
