Laser Treatments

Refned Erbium lasers are a new addition to today’s anti-aging arsenal. New technological capabilities allow for an almost infinite choice in how gentle or aggressive these laser peels can be. Our laser system allows for treatment depths as minimal as 4 microns (similar to a glycolic acid peel) up to 120 microns (full resurfacing effect.) Sometimes referred to as a “weekend” skin peel, the micro laser peel is the ideal treatment for those patients who want improved skin with immediate lasting results, little time of, discomfort, or post-treatment care. Dr. Cohen’s laser uses a computer-guided scanner to ensure maximum precision and treatment uniformity. The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take from two to four days. The procedure can be performed on Thursday or Friday and you can return to work the following Monday.

Lasers are a highly effective tool for treating a wide variety of skin-related conditions. A great alternative to a chemical peel, Dr. Cohen uses a variety of laser treatments to rejuvenate your skin.

Micro Laser Peel

What is the micro laser peel?

It is a minimal to full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected:

  • wrinkles
  • scars
  • pigmentation problems
  • overall sun damage

Who should consider a micro laser peel?

The patient looking for better results than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels can offer, yet, still has little time for the healing process.
How is the micro laser peel different from microdermabrasion?

Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum). The mechanism is essentially the same as a carpenter using sandpaper to smooth rough wood. Microdermabrasion is typically performed by an esthetician or beautician who regulates the depth of the peel by how much pressure is applied during the process. The micro laser peel is a minimal-to-full epidermal peel that can provide much more dramatic, longer lasting results. The computer controlled scanning handpiece of our laser allows for exact control of depth, resulting in predictable and consistent skin peels. At The Art of Eyes, all laser treatments are administered by specially trained & certified medical technicians or Dr. Cohen himself.

How often does a micro laser peel need to be done?

Laser skin treatments must be performed at least 4 weeks apart. Since the micro laser peel has a cumulative effect, we have found a series of 3-5 low level peels can accomplish the same stunning result a deeper, resurfacing peel without requiring weeks of downtime. Once you achieve your desired results, micro laser peel treatments can be repeated every 6-12 months to maintain optimal appearance and texture. Dr. Cohen will determine the best possible strategy and settings for your personalized treatment program.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness.

Broad Band Light
What is BBL broadband light?

BBL or BroadBand Light is cutting edge phototherapy allowing for precision treatment of a wide variety of skin conditions. BBL broadband light energy allows your physician to precisely treat age and sun spots, small facial veins and several other types of skin conditions.

What will BBL Treatments do?

Broadband light technology utilizes the power of the pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. By selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, your physician will be able to treat a broad range of skin conditions, such as those caused by skin aging and sun exposure. Your treatment will be customized to match your skin condition and your desired outcome. Your skin will be smoother, more vibrant and it will have a more youthful appearance as a result.

What conditions can be treated with BBL?

  • Acne
  • Age Spots
  • Freckles and dark spots
  • Redness and red spots
  • Small Facial Veins
  • Rosacea
  • Port Wine Stains

How does BBL work?

The light energy delivered by the BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This will help restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors giving a smoother, vibrant and younger looking. In addition, the photothermal energy will target and eliminate many of the fine vessels that cause redness and unwanted pigmented lesions.

What areas can be treated?

Any area of your body can be treated. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sun light. The most popular treatments are for the face, neck, back of hands, chest and shoulders.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients require 2 to 5 treatments at 2 to 4 week intervals to produce the desired results. You may benefit from additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition.
